From our initial earthquake relief efforts, LMKR has been focusing on continuing its efforts for the rehabilitation and ultimate reconstruction phase for earthquake affected victims. With the continuing relief efforts in the surrounding areas of the Bagh District including Sudungali, LMKR is now ready to step into the phase of reconstruction for the earthquake affectees in these areas.
To date, most reconstruction plans are focusing on the urban areas affected. LMKR has operated in the remote rural areas of the Jhelum Valley from the outset and now continues to extend this relief effort to reconstruction in two destroyed villages: Rairbun and Muldara, which are located in the surrounding area of Bagh District, at altitudes of above 2000 meters. Each of these villages has around 750 destroyed houses within an approximate radius of one kilometer. LMKR plans to construct 50 earthquake-resistant, pre-fabricated houses, available in three different sizes, for each of these villages.
