LMKR's Earthquake Relief Efforts have strongly been supported by employees, volunteers, donors , international teams and numerous other people. These efforts ranged from providing medical and relief services for the earthquake victims to relocation and reconstruction operations.
LMKR's earthquake relief efforts commenced on the 3rd day after the earthquake with the setting up of our first medical and relief camp in Sudungali (District Bagh). At that point in time, no rescue team was present in the area due to its difficult accessibility. Sudungali, elevation wise, is the highest terrain between the Bagh - Muzaffarabad road, and has random severe weather conditions and difficult terrain. Our second medical camp was set up in Chakaar alongside the military base and has catered to around 300 patients a day. LMKR Relief team was actively operating in these regions till the 10 th of November and catered to over 5000 patients, saving the lives of many.
Currently we're providing medical care to many patients through our hospital in H-11 , Islamabad next to the CDA tent village (for earthquake victims). The tent used for the hospital is the largest available, spanning 150 feet by 45 feet and covering 7000 sq feet area. We're are extremely thankful to all the donors and people involved in its setup and operation. We would appreciate any help for running this hospital in terms of logistics, equipment, doctors, nurses or financial aid.
Medical relief has been a major part of our relief efforts. Our medical facilities were equipped with operating theaters and post-op wards. We also delivered a baby boy in the Chakaar medical camp. These facilities have been the only medical relief available to the local population between the city of Bagh and Muzaffarabad at that time.
Our operations have been multifold including the provision of tents (whenever available), bedding, clothing and food items on a regular basis. One of the major activities besides setting up medical and relief camps was the setting up of a school for 450 students from 5 villages near Sudungali. The school is now fully-functional accommodating students from nursery to matric.
