Handing Over of Plastic Surgery Equipment to PIMS Hospital
7th January 2006
After the October 2005 earthquake, there have been many cases at our medical relief camps where plastic surgery has extensively been required for the face reconstruction of the victims. Meryum is one such example that was sent for complete facial plastic reconstruction from our camps to PIMS Hospital Islamabad. Her face was completely damaged after the catastrophe. LMKR provided state of the art plastic surgery tools to the hospital to successfully carry out the surgery.
After the effective treatment of Meryum, the LMKR relief staff acquired more surgical equipment for the provision of enhanced plastic surgery services at PIMS Hospital Islamabad. A ceremony was held to commemorate the successful recovery of Meryum and the newly acquired Plastic Surgery Instruments were presented to Dr. Ibrahim from PIMS. Meryum herself handed over the surgical instruments making the event momentous. Dr. Ibrahim carried out Meryum's successful facial reconstruction surgery that appeared to be an impossible undertaking. Following is a detail of the instruments that were purchased as part of LMKR's relief campaign and handed over to Dr. Ibrahim.
